On 3rd January 2025, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Mundali, Cuttack, witnessed an eventful day marked by inspiration, service, and cultural pride. Swami Mukundananda, the founder of Jagadguru Kripalu Yog Trust (JKYog India) and a globally renowned spiritual leader, visited the school to distribute spectacles, exemplifying JKYog's commitment to education, healthcare, and holistic well-being. This collaborative initiative between JKYog and JNV showcased how organisations can join hands for noble causes.
JNV Mundali's proximity to Jagadguru Kripalu University (JKU) paved the way for this remarkable partnership, reinforcing the shared vision of empowering rural youth.
A Grand Welcome and Inspiring Tributes
Swamiji's arrival was met with enthusiasm as JNV's disciplined NCC cadets, Scouts, and Guides marched in unison, creating a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere. The students led Swamiji in a grand parade accompanied by drumbeats and trumpets. The procession paused at the Buddha statue and the statue of Swami Vivekananda, where Swamiji offered floral tributes, paying homage to these timeless symbols of wisdom and inspiration.
Cultural Performances: Showcasing Odisha's Heritage
The main stage became a platform for showcasing talent and cultural heritage.
- Heartfelt Choir Performance: The school's choir performed a specially composed song, expressing their gratitude and joy for Swamiji's visit.
- Graceful Odissi Dance: Two talented Odissi dancers performed a mesmerising recital to the Sanskrit shloka Vakratunda Mahakaya, highlighting Odisha's rich cultural traditions.
- Dynamic Yoga Demonstration: The girls' yoga squad impressed everyone with a breathtaking performance, displaying strength, flexibility, and unity.
These performances set the tone for a day filled with inspiration and learning.
Swami Mukundananda's Address: Igniting Young Minds
Swamiji captivated the audience with his powerful address, emphasising the importance of discipline, selflessness, and spiritual growth. Through engaging anecdotes and practical insights, he encouraged students to discover their true potential and lead purposeful lives.
In an interactive session, Swamiji used a live demonstration to simplify the concept of aatma gyan (self-knowledge), making it relatable to young minds. A guided meditation session followed, during which students meditated on Bhagwan Jagannath, fostering a deep connection with divinity.
Healthcare Initiative: Vision for the Future
As part of JKYog's commitment to holistic well-being, free eye check-ups were organised for JNV Mundali students at Jagadguru Kripalu Chikitsalaya (JKC). During the event, Swamiji personally handed over a few spectacles to students with vision impairments, symbolising the initiative's focus on ensuring that a lack of access to essential healthcare hinders no child's education. In total, around 60 spectacles were distributed to JNV Mundali students, marking a significant step in this ongoing effort.
This initiative is part of a broader campaign across the Banara, Mundali, Kuwamunda, and Gayalbanka areas, where over 500 spectacles have already been distributed to students in various schools. With the program still in progress, JKYog continues to extend its reach, bringing vision and opportunity to many more in need.
In recognition of the medical team's unwavering dedication and service behind this impactful initiative, Swamiji honoured them in a special felicitation ceremony, acknowledging their vital contributions to the campaign's success.
The event concluded on a heartfelt note as a top 12th-grade student delivered a moving speech, expressing gratitude to Swamiji and JKYog for the health check-up program and thanking everyone involved for their efforts in making the initiative a success.

The seamless collaboration between JNV, JKU, and JKYog brought this event to life. From the students' enthusiastic participation to the school staff's meticulous planning, every element reflected a shared commitment to education, spirituality, and service.
