Shree Krishna explains that the soul is divine and beyond physical senses like eating, seeing, or touching. It operates through the body-mind-intellect, which is called the "field of activities" (kṣhetra). In modern terms, this can be likened to energy fields around objects, such as magnetic or electric fields. The body serves as a receptacle for the soul's activities. Although the soul is separate from the body and mind, it forgets its divine nature and identifies with these material aspects, earning the name "kṣhetrajña" (the knower of the field). Self-realised sages, who understand their true nature, recognise this distinction and perceive themselves as separate from the physical body.
